Forensic Crime Report Relating To Deaths At Wat Patum, May 19th 2010

This is a summary translation of pages 14 and 15 of a forensic report numbered 838/2553 that was produced by the Crime Scene Investigation Department of Central Institute of Forensic Science relating to the killing of 6 persons at the Wat Pathum temple in central Bangkok on the 19th May 2010. We are unsure of the exact date this report was issued as we’ve only been able to obtain pages 4 to 15 of the entire report. However judging from the signed date, it must’ve be completed sometime between May 19th and October 23rd 2010.

At present we are only publishing the final two pages of the report as these hold the key conclusions of the report. Furthermore the English translation at this point will only be of the essential elements of that conclusion.

We will be publishing pages 4 to 13 at a later date - these pages offer a thorough and very technical examination of the crime scene at Wat Pathum.

The summary English translation below the documents relates to the specific subtopics contained within the report’s conclusion and is a summary. 

From the report's conclusion it is self-evident the victims were unarmed. It also appears that all the bullet-fire originated from the elevated position on the BTS tracks outside Wat Patum. This position was held by the Thai Army and no forensic evidence is offered in the pages of the report we currently hold that that position came under fire from the direction of Wat Patum.

Subtopic 10.1 No evidence of explosive material, drugs or use of fire arms was found on the bodies on any of the six victims

Subtopic 10.2, In summary this subtopic concludes that one of the victims Mr. Rop Suksathut, was shot and killed from a bullet that was fired from above and which traversed downwards through his body.

Subtopics 10.3, 10.4, 10.6, 10.7 conclude that four other victims Mr. Attachai Chumchan, Ms. Kamonkade Akkahad, Mr. Sukan Sriraksa and Mr. Akradet Khankaew all died as a result of being shot in the back.

Subtopic 10.5 concludes that Mr. Mongkol Khemthong was shot and killed from a bullet that was fired from above and which traversed downwards through his body.

Subtopic 10.10 concludes that the bullet marks on the road barrier in front of Wat Patum and within the temple itself indicate that the firing trajectory of the bullets originated from the elevated BTS rail tracks in front of the Wat Pathum.
